With a residential purchase today from Orland Park, IL, Buy Clean Energy 2010 reached the half-million mark in new kilowatt-hours purchased for this campaign. This represents the combined purchases of households and organizations across the country reducing their dependence on fossil fuel–generated electricity and turning instead to clean, renewable sources of electricity like wind, solar, small hydropower, and biomass. Along with existing clean-energy supporters, new purchasers on the campaign are buying close to 2 million kilowatt hours of clean energy.
